About Medical Marijuana in Oklahoma

Oklahoma does not have a defined list of qualifying conditions, nor are there specific criteria for patients to obtain a physician’s recommendation. As per Oklahoma state law, "A physician must recommend a medical marijuana license based on the accepted standards that a reasonable and prudent physician would adhere to when recommending or approving any medication.

A caregiver in Oklahoma is required to fulfill specific criteria to assist a registered patient. Firstly, a caregiver must be at least 18 years old and reside in the state. To verify residency, a caregiver needs to present a current Oklahoma driver's license or state ID card. Additionally, the caregiver must provide documentation indicating that they have been designated by the state-registered patient to offer assistance. In Oklahoma, caregivers are not obligated to pay a registration fee for their cards.

Patients listed in the registry who need help in obtaining or utilizing medical marijuana products may appoint an authorized caregiver, provided that the physician’s recommendation form included with the patient’s application certifies the necessity for a caregiver.

Caregivers are required to submit the Adult Patient Caregiver Designation Form, which must be signed by the patient. If a parent or legal guardian is designated as a caregiver, they must submit the Minor Patient Caregiver Designation Form. Minor patients are allowed to designate up to two (2) authorized caregivers who are either parents or legal guardians.

There is no fee associated with caregiver license applications. Caregiver licenses remain valid until the expiration date of the corresponding patient’s license. The requirements for caregivers are as follows:

- Digital copy of proof of Oklahoma residency - Digital copy of proof of identity - A clear, color, full-face digital photograph suitable for U.S. passport use - Submission of the appropriate Patient Caregiver Designation Form signed by the patient
