Schedule an appointment to consult with a medical marijuana doctor in MN via Medcardsnow at a time that suits you best. You will be required to submit your medical history along with your email address. Following that, you will have a 10-15 minute consultation with a doctor, either in person or online, to assess your conditions and to inquire about any aspects of medical marijuana treatment. Make sure to request a visit summary from your physician that outlines your current medications and medical conditions.

Once the appointment concludes, and if you receive approval, the doctor will complete and give you the Patient Email and Acknowledgment form necessary for the application process. Subsequently, you will get an email from the Office of Medical Cannabis containing a link that enables you to register online for the medical marijuana program. Please note that the link from the state and the certification from your healthcare provider are only valid for 90 days from the date of issuance.

After you are certified, you will obtain an email confirmation from the state that includes your online registration link for the Medical Cannabis Patient Registry. While it is often called a ‘medical marijuana card’ in other states, Minnesota does not provide physical medical marijuana cards. Instead, patients receive a medical marijuana certification. In your application, you must include a copy of your Minnesota state-issued ID or Driver’s License.

As of July 1, 2023, MN medical marijuana patients are no longer obligated to pay the $200 enrollment fee, as this fee has been removed.

To qualify, a patient must reside in the state and possess a driver’s license or identification that verifies their address. They must be at least 18 years old, or have a designated caregiver if they are younger than 18, and must also provide a physician’s certification that confirms their qualifying conditions.

You can register for a consultation with a licensed medical cannabis physician via Medcardsnow for just $49.75. In Minnesota, there are no extra state registration fees.

To add a caregiver to their Registry account, a patient must ensure that the caregiver receives an email invitation to create their own account in the Registry. The caregiver is required to provide their name, address, date of birth, phone number, and a government-issued identification, which can be a State ID card, Driver’s License, or Passport. Additionally, they must undergo a criminal background check through the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension. The application fee for caregivers is $15, and they must be at least 21 years old. The background check for caregivers remains valid for two years.

Patients are no longer required to obtain approval from their healthcare practitioner to add a caregiver to their medical cannabis certification. Caregivers for medical cannabis are permitted to assist up to six medical cannabis patients simultaneously.

In Minnesota, patients with medical prescriptions are allowed to purchase a maximum of 2.5 ounces of cannabis products every two weeks, with a limit of 8 grams for cannabis concentrates.

Residents of Minnesota aged 21 and older are now permitted to cultivate cannabis in their homes. You may grow a maximum of 8 plants simultaneously, with no more than 4 being mature, flowering adults. Cannabis plants must be maintained out of view in a secured location and cannot be sold legally.

To renew your Minnesota medical marijuana card via Medcardsnow, you must arrange a renewal appointment with one of our doctors. They will verify that you still require medical cannabis for your qualifying condition and guide you through the renewal process. We will notify you as your renewal appointment approaches, or you can contact our Customer Service Department for assistance and to apply a renewal discount.

Currently, a medical marijuana card in Minnesota is valid for a duration of one year. Starting in 2025, these cards will be valid for Two years.
